S# 94001..There are very few collectibles in the firearms community that command a significant value even though they don’t hold any historical significance or are connected to important provenance, however; the fabled Registered Drop In Auto Sear (R.D.I.A.S.) certainly rises to this occasion. Designed w/ the sole purpose of converting a semiautomatic AR-15 variant into a transferable machine gun, the R.D.I.A.S. remains highly sought after & very seldom hits the public market. Manufactured by US Ordnance Inc, w/ a steel body & paddle, this device emulates the function of the original auto sear without the necessity to drill the receiver. It indexes off the rear takedown lug. When combined w/ an M16 fire control group, it allows select fire function, just like the original M16. One distinct advantage it has is that it will function in an almost infinite number of configurations, and is not specific to one particular receiver. It can operate in numerous host guns allowing the owner to have the ability to have select fire function in several configurations & calibers, and doesn't even require tools to install. Another advantage is that while a damaged registered receiver could be financially catastrophic, the R.D.I.A.S. can simply be swapped to an entirely different receiver, should damage ever occur. It is also often functional in numerous configurations that weren't even yet conceived as of the 1986 machine gun ban, creating a VERY RARE opportunity to legally own fully automatic current technology, since the R.D.I.A.S. is the machine gun, and the semiautomatic rifle it is used in is simply its host. This is an extremely rare opportunity to upgrade your collection in ways that are not often available to most collectors. NFA paperwork designates the model as "Contender" which is stamped on the side. CONDITION: overall very fine. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-2007/ZAL). MODERN. CLASS III. $30,000-50,000.
